
Lee Farquhar

Dr. Lee Farquhar is a professor and director of the Eugene S. Pulliam School of Journalism & Creative Media. The School includes five majors (Critical Communication & Media Studies, Creative Media & Entertainment, Journalism, Music Industry Studies, Sports Media) and two standalone minors (Esports Communication, Film Studies). In total, Lee oversees 300 students in these programs. Lee has nearly 20 years of experience in higher ed. In addition to his current role as school director, Lee has served in numerous leadership roles, including head of a broadcasting track, academic lead for Butler Esports, numerous search committee chair roles, curriculum committee chair, and director of the AI workgroup in Butler’s College of Communication. Lee teaches multimedia storytelling courses in the sports media and journalism programs at Butler, and his research focuses on application of social-psychological theory to digital spaces. Recent works have focused on esports community, social empathy through gaming, and use of AI in the classroom.
